Clarence Emil "Hoss" Kofron, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of El Campo passed away on May 8, 2014 peacefully surrounded by family at his home. He was 87. He was born on April 10 1927 in Taiton, Texas to the late Charlie and Rose Fucik Kofron. Clarence served in the US Army at the end of World War II. Upon returning stateside from Europe he began a career in the Oil Field working as a Tool Pusher for Richard's Drilling until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, tinkering served as a favorite past time. He enjoyed coastal fishing, playing dominoes, Thursday night dancing at the American Legion Hall, and playing with his grand and great-grand children. He was a kind and generous soul who will be greatly missed by family and friends. Clarence is survived by daughter Lisa Doughty (Scott) of Houston, sons Clarence Jr. (Kathy) of El Campo, Gary (Denise) of Richmond, Terry (Norma) of Alice, Paul (Kim) of Round Rock, Patrick of Cedar Park, and their mother Patricia Kofron of El Campo, companion Martha Hubenak of El Campo, brothers George, Charlie, and Donald, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Charlene Engstrom and Adela Holub and brother John Kofron. Visitation will begin on Friday May 9 2014 at 1 pm at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 10 2014 at 10 am at St. Roberts Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Nada with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251. Pallbearers will be Jerod Doughty, Clay Kofron, Conrad Kofron, Cody Kofron, Matthew Kofron, Travis Kofron, Gabe Kofron and Aaron Villarreal. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial donations in memory of Clarence may be made to the American Red Cross.
