Darla Jean Petersen, 75 of El Campo, passed away on November 14, 2013. She was born on May 3, 1938 In Wharton to the late Otto L. and Opal Mae Doree Harton. She had been employed as a cashier at several businesses and also a babysitter.
She loved animals, sports, Lucille Ball and Jerry Lewis movies and watching Westerns on TV with her son-in-law, Larry. She will be greatly missed by the ones who loved her.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Wilson and husband Larry of Louise, son Carl Petersen and wife Pam of El Campo, brother Jim L. Harton and wife Carole of Concan, granddaughters Kayla Perry and husband Greg of Noblesville, Indiana, Amanda Leopold and husband Greg of Rosenberg, Stephanie Thompson of Van Vleck, grandsons Matthew Sikes of Fort Worth, Trey Wilson of El Campo, Toby Marek and wife Tisha of Boling, great grandchildren Elizabeth and Addelyn Leopold, Robert Blake Martinez, Kennedy and Reagan Thompson and Brooklyn Marek , brother and sister-in-laws Mary Lou and Leonard Mieth, Sr., Nancy and Ken Gerron, Leroy and Gwen Petersen, Rudy Pusok, John and Mildred Naiser, Dolores and Allen Livanec, Kathy and David Cloud, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon Petersen who died on November 15, 1967, granddaughter Cherie Petersen.
Visitation will begin at 2 pm on Sunday with the family receiving visitors from 5 pm until 7 pm at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 18, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Burial will follow at the Danevang Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matthew Sikes, Trey Wilson, Leonard Mieth, Sr., Leonard Mieth, Jr., Ray Castillo, Mark Nielsen, Gary Harton, Rusty Cook, David Brown, and Richard Ulrich. Honorary pallbearers are Greg and Kayla Perry, Greg and Amanda Leopold, Robert Lesak, Monty Williams, Kermit Harton, Sr. Al Wind, Harold Wind, Irvin Wind and Lester Wind.
Memorials in her memory may be made to First Baptist Church or Danish Heritage Preservation Society.
