Dorothy Tupa Sohrt, 86 of El Campo, passed away February 19, 2014. She was born on September 28, 1927 in Halletsville to Jim and Laura Brosch Tupa. Dorothy worked for over 30 years as head housekeeper and laundry at Hillje Nursing Home and Garden Villa in El Campo and was a member of Hillje Altar Society and KJZT. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched many lives and was very involved with St. Andrew's Church.

She is survived by her daughter Jackie Pierce and husband Mike; sons Donald Sohrt and wife Janet, Gussie Sohrt and wife Debbie, Allen Sohrt and wife Donna of Victoria; daughter-in-law Angie Sohrt; grandchildren Matthew Sohrt, David Sohrt, Jamie Sohrt, Kaci Singer, Holly Kana, Patrick Sohrt, Amanda Sohrt, Wendy Pierce, Heather Pierce, Chad Sohrt, Todd Sohrt; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Annie Lesak and Lillian Walch.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gus Sohrt, son Walton Sohrt, brother John Tupa, sisters Helen Psencik and Rosie Morton.

Visitation will be from 3 – 6 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje. Funeral services are at 10 am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Matthew Sohrt, David Sohrt, Patrick Sohrt, Mark Walch, Jamie Sohrt and Benny Morton. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandhildren.

Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. Andrew's Catholic Church or to the Father Jawaharlal N. Gornatla (Father Johannes) Carmelite Missions of India Fund at First State Bank of Louise.
