Elenora Shimek Collins Hunt of Bay City died May 23, 2014 at the age of 86. She was born February 1, 1928 in Hillje, TX to the late Sigmund and Eunice Dornak Shimek. She was a 1945 graduate of El Campo High School. She married the late Jack Collins in 1946, together they lived in Ohio, Colorado, and Florida before settling in Houston. She was married to Vernon Hunt of Palacios in 1998 for twelve years. She was a program assistant for the US Customs in Houston until her retirement in 1987. She was a devoted Catholic, and loved to travel, quilt, garden, dance and meet new people.
Elenora is survived by her children: Sandy Smith and husband Smitty of Bethany Beach, DE, Richard Collins of Houston, Clif Collins and wife Rachel of Houston, Teri Collins of Bay City and Phil Collins and wife Peggy of Lake Jackson; grandchildren: Greg, Bethany, Emily, Stephanie, Ben, Austin, Clayton, Michael, Drew, Will, John, and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren; sisters Adeline Krenek of Shiner and Edith Kocurek of Palacios.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, son Jeffrey Collins, sisters Martha Kutac and Lois Vasicek.
Visitation will begin Monday at 2 pm at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo with a Rosary being offered at 6 pm. The Funeral Mass will be 10 am Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, El Campo, with Rev. Albert Yankey officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Donations in memory of Elenora Collins Hunt may be made to either St. Philip Catholic Church or the Alzeheimer's Assoc., Houston & SE Texas Chapter.
