Elmer Donovan Wood Jr., 84 of El Campo passed away on March 5, 2014. He was born on February 5, 1930 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Rev. Elmer Donovan Wood Sr. and Eliza Timmons Wood.

He was a teacher at El Campo ISD for 38 years, a U.S Army National Guard Veteran, an elder at First Presbyterian Church and a member of Garden of Memories Cemetery board of directors, Retired Teachers of Texas, Texas State Teacher Organization, and the American Legion Post 251.

Survivors include his wife Clydene DeFoor Wood of El Campo, daughter Debra Hamman and husband René of El Campo; grandson Blake Donovan Hamman of Attleboro, Mass.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Norman Treude of Kerrville; 9 nieces and 6 nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Sally Canfield, Joanna Anthony, and Kate Timmins; and brother Richard H. Wood.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm to 6 pm Friday, March 7, 2014 at Triska Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chuck Kimball officiating.

Pallbearers will be Willard Bergstrom, Peter Photos, Scott Treude, Leon Macha, Larry Russell, and Gerald Grogan.
