George Steve Cunda, Sr. of El Campo died December 25, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on December 19, 1930 in Corpus Christi to the late Frank and Annie Hermis Cunda. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He then served in the National Guard for 38 years in food service and as a system mechanic before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post #251, Knights of Columbus #2490, and the KJT.
He is survived by his wife Lucie Dirba Cunda; son George Cunda, Jr. and wife Karen; daughter Judy Moss of Lufkin; sister Edith Konarik of Halletsville; grandchildren Patrick Cunda and wife Brandi, Nicholas Cunda, April Cunda, Amanda Naiser, Derek Moss, Dustin Moss, and Darrell Moss; great granddaughters Kameryn and MaKayla Cunda. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 2 pm to 8 pm Friday at Triska Funeral Home. KC Rosary will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, December 28, 2013, at St. Philip Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will follow at 2 pm at the Church with Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Cunda, Nicholas Cunda, Derek Moss, Dustin Moss, Darrell Moss and Arthur Martinez.
Memorial donations in memory of George Cunda, Sr. may be made to St. Philip Church or St. Philip School.
