Janell Marek, 86 of El Campo, passed away on April 17, 2014. She was born on November 3, 1927 in Nada to the late Joe A. and Mary Labay Dornak. She had been employed by Gerbermann-Bures Jewelers in the early 1980's and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the KJZT.

She is survived by her husband Johnnie F. Marek, daughter Denise Jaks and husband Vic, son Dennis Marek and wife Carol all of El Campo, granddaughter Stacie Gundermann and husband Garrett of Wharton, great granddaughter McKynlie Gundermann, sisters-in-law Edna Krenek of El Campo and Agnes Hajosvsky of Rosenberg.

A Parish Wake Service and Rosary led by the Catholic Daughters will be held on Monday April 21, 2014 at 9:30 am followed by funeral services at 10 am at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Ted Krenek, Pat Krenek, Tim Hajovsky, Clyde Marek, James Dye, Norbert Pekar, Kenny Bostik and John LaRocque.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Philip Church or St. Philip School.
