LaVern Joe Trlicek, 79 of El Campo, passed away on November 24, 2013. He was born on November 8, 1934 in La Grange, Texas to Frank and Annie Janda Trlicek. Vern worked for Sunshine Cleaners for 20 years before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Wharton County, where he worked for 19 years before retiring. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2490.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lucy Blaha Trlicek, daughters Karen Kight and husband David, Donna Trlicek Beal and husband Antony, all of El Campo, grandchildren Shane Langston and wife Heather of Cuero, Sarah Langston stationed in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and a great-grandson Luke Allen Langston.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents and brother Frankie and infant brother Alphonse Trlicek.

Visitation will begin at 4 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6 pm. The family will receive friends and visitors from 5 – 7 pm. Funeral service will be at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Triska Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Rother officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are David Kight, Shane Langston, Juan Rubio, Joe Blaha, Robert Cerny, Ted Schoenfield, Jake Herrington and Louis Chiesa.
