Marvin Lynn "Bud" Carter, 71 of El Campo, passed away January 30, 2014. He was born on May 2, 1942 in Lamesa, Texas to Sam Carter and Evelyn "Tiny" Sink Foster and was raised by his mother and step-father Jim Foster.

Marvin graduated from Lamesa High School in 1960 and then married his wife of 51 years Joyce Lynn Mayfield Carter on July 4, 1962. He worked as a commercial printer for El Campo Leader News and El Campo Printing, eventually becoming part owner of El Campo Printing. Marvin was also an oil field worker for Bass Enterprise before retiring in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, daughters Shana Rodriguez and husband Leon Jr, Denise Spillman and husband Steve, granddaughters Erika Lynn Rodriguez, Jordyne Priesmeyer, grandson Brian Koudela and wife Kaylee, great-granddaughters Marissa Lynn Lara, Caitlynn Briana Lara, Kinsley Koudela, Brittany Quinones, all of El Campo, step-mother Ophelia Carter of Midland, brothers Jim Foster and wife Joyce of Lubbock, Charles Carter and wife Cindy of Manahans, sister Phyllis Bates and husband Earl of Midland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Evelyn Foster and Sam Carter, daughter Sharla Lynn Carter, brother Clark Vernon Carter and sister Joy Foster Rodgers.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Triska Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5 – 7 pm. Funeral service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Triska Funeral Home with the Reverend John McCord officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Brian Koudela, Vernon Carter, Leon Rodriguez Jr, Steve Spillman, David Thonsgaard and Randy Bedwell. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Albrect, Garron Farrar, J.P. Watson and Clay Houston.

Memorial donations in memory of Marvin may be made to Church of Christ.
