Emil W. Zbranek of Bay City died March 6, 2013 at the age of 80. He was born on July 13, 1932 in Wharton County to the late Emil A. and Mary Kubecka Zbranek. He worked at the Rice Dryers in Bay City and El Campo for 28 years before retiring, then he worked 13 years in the maintenance dept for Tidehaven ISD. He was an Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Ruby Adams Zbranek of Bay City; sons Chris Zbranek of Pasadena, CA, Jeff Zbranek and wife Patricia of Blessing, Brian Zbranek of Austin, and Nathan Zbranek and wife Michelle of Bay City; brothers Sylvester Zbranek and wife Patricia of El Campo, Anton Zbranek and wife Jo Ann of Pierce, and Andrew Zbranek of El Campo; sister Mary Ann Smith and husband Lewis of Bay City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Supak and brothers William and Joe Zbranek.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Triska Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday, March 8, 2013 at Holy Cross Church with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. A parish rosary will precede the services at 9:30 am in the church. Graveside services with full military honors will be 2:00 pm Friday at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Taiton under auspices of the American Legion Post 251.

Pallbearers are Chris Zbranek, Jeff Zbranek, Brian Zbranek, Nathan Zbranek, Steve Morales, and Jerome Vacek. Honorary pallbearers are Jared Zbranek, Josh Zbranek, Hayden Zbranek, Ethan Zbranek, Jayden Montague, and Brian Galow.

Memorial donations in memory of Emil W. Zbranek may be made to Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross School or Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
