Vivian Castellanos Vallejo of El Campo died August 9, 2012 at the age of 87. She was born September 10, 1924 in Seguin to the late Luis and Adelina Menchaca Castellanos. Together with her late husband, Ignacio "Joe" Vallejo, they owned and operated restaurants in El Campo for over 60 years, and also owned and operated the Pan American Ballroom for over 30 years before retiring. She established the Pan American Scholarship, which still awards scholarships today. She was an active member of St. Robert's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters Dolly Cisneros and husband John, Janie Saucedo and husband Jackie, and Motsy Quintero and husband Virgil, all of El Campo; son Joe Vallejo, Jr. and wife Brenda of Harlingen; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Maria Rico, brothers Manuel, Apolonio, Saul, Hermilio, Humberto, and Jose "Chanque" Castellanos.
Visitation will begin 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm Sunday at Triska Funeral Home, and then from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Robert Catholic Church with a rosary being offered at 5:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, August 13, 2012, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons John Patrick Cisneros, Anthony Cisneros, Richard Cisneros, Jay Brent Saucedo, Jacey Saucedo Coy, and Kord Quintero. Honorary bearers are her granddaughters Lisa Cisneros Escalona, Margaret Cisneros, Evan Vallejo Partee, Sara Vallejo Willie, Kirby Quintero and Janae Saucedo.
Memorial donations in memory of Vivian Vallejo may be made to Pan American Scholarship Fund or St. Philip Catholic School.
